A CCTV footage has emerged detailing how a businessman was cornered and shot six times at close range by unknown assailants in Nairobi's Mirema estate.
In the footage seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the victim - who was driving a compact SUV, a Honda CRV in make, drove to his death trap where the assailants were waiting for him.
As he drove towards the exit, a man donning a moderately oversize jacket walks towards the victim's vehicle before a saloon car parks a few meters ahead of him in a manner to block the exit.
As the victim comes closer to the heavily dressed pedestrian, he (the pedestrian) draws a gun - a calibre of short gun - and starts shooting indiscriminately at him at close range.
Before engaging his weapon, the shooter draws it and but hides it after a female pedestrian walks past the victim's vehicle.
Cognisant of the danger around her, the female pedestrian begins walking back, ducking her head in the process. She successfully escaped the scene as the assailant fires four successive rounds.
After the first four shots, the vehicle is seen trying to move. The shooter then intercepts it and fires two more rounds incapacitating the driver and effectively bringing the vehicle to a halt.
After that, he dashed to the saloon car that lay in wait and it takes off, leaving the victim for the dead.
The footage corroborates an earlier statement by Kasarani OCPD. Peter Manzo, who confirmed to Kenyans.co.ke that the incident happened on Monday afternoon.
According to Manzo, witnesses had identified the assailant as a well-dressed, clean-cut man. The police boss added that at the time of the incident, the businessman was the only occupant of the vehicle.
Manzo added that officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had processed the crime scene, combing it for any evidence including spent cartridges and shell casing.
Officers who first responded to the scene reported recovering several laptops from the victim's vehicle.
