Iguku was a well-known businessman in Nyeri town and was running several electronic shops within the town.

However, in their statement, the police did not disclose how the two wired the money to the hitmen who carried out the murder on December 19.

The police also did not disclose if they had apprehended the hitmen at the time they were issuing their statement.

Additionally, the police stated that the two who are the prime suspects, knew each other for some time, with the police commander adding that the two had an affair.

"We have arrested her alongside a man who is a friend and we arrested them in a place called Kiva which is located in Machakos County.

They were brought back here because according to our investigations, the two were trying to flee so that we cannot find them here," Kuria stated.

According to the police report, the businessman was strangled by the hitmen with Investigations indicating that he was also tortured before he was murdered.

The police added that they discovered injury marks on the businessman, adding that they were caused by whips.

Further, the police added that the two are currently being held at the police station before a charge sheet is prepared for their arraignment before a court of law.
