Apostle James Ng'ang'a of the Neno Evangelism Ministry has once again found himself in the spotlight following the circulation of a video allegedly showing him making derogatory comments during a church service.

The undated clip, which has been widely shared online, shows Ng'ang'a openly confessing to having been part of an eight-person gang that assaulted a woman years ago. However, the clip's authenticity has not been verified.

"We assaulted one woman while we were eight people. We did it," the preacher could be heard saying, addressing an unusually mute congregation.

His sentiments went viral on social media platforms, sparking wild reactions and leaving a section of Kenyans shocked over the rather disturbing declaration.

Among those outraged by Ng'ang'a's sentiments was Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris, who now wants the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to take action.

Taking to her X account on Tuesday morning, Passaris noted that while there is a slight probability of the clip being artificially generated, it should be investigated to establish its authenticity.

According to the lawmaker, should the video turn out to be genuine, then the famous preacher must be immediately arrested and face criminal charges.

"In this era of AI-generated and manipulated videos, I don’t know if the clip is genuine or a deep fake, but one thing remains: it must be investigated," Passaris wrote.

Adding: "If that video is real, then it is not a sermon, it is a criminal confession. It should have been flagged instantly, and the pastor picked up for questioning by the authorities."

While calling for investigations into the matter, the legislator challenged Pastor Ng'ang'a to surrender himself to the nearest police and name his accomplices.

"I keep wondering where the woman is today? How has her life been since that ordeal?  The DCI must act swiftly to verify the video, protect the victim, and uphold the rule of law," the lawmaker stated.

Pastor Ng'ang'a is no stranger to controversy; he is common for his outrageous demeaning comments and actions during sermons. He has often been called out on many occasions due to his rather careless opinions.

For instance, in April this year, he came under harsh criticism for reportedly slapping a man and making verbal assault against the victim during one of the routine Sunday preachings.
