Animation shows targeting kids will be aired on Saturday at 7:55 am with dance and city shows slotted for Sunday at 10 pm.

Friday's programming at 2 pm will be allocated to the Personal Trainer show which covers sports and fitness.

According to insiders, the deal is aimed at showcasing Russian culture to Kenyans. It is also aimed at ensuring Kenyans have a better understanding of Russia and its people.

It is also believed that the new programming can foster better cooperation and ties between Kenya and Russia.

Notably, the deal between K24 and BRICS is part of the latter's outreach strategy across the globe. Some of BRICS' content has previously been aired in Latin American countries such as Brazil.

Similar content has also been aired on Zimbabwe's national broadcaster, the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC).

"Russia and the countries of the African continent are linked by a long and sincere friendship: since the times of the Soviet Union, relations between the countries have included a broad humanitarian agenda, joint projects are being implemented in a variety of sectors, including education.

"We are very happy that the residents of the BRICS countries and now Kenya can get to know the Russian Arctic better," Rustam Romanenkov, Deputy General Director Centre for Arctic Initiatives stated after the deal.
