A Nairobi lawyer was Wednesday morning found dead in a swimming pool at a Mombasa hotel.
Lawyer Geoffrey Oriaro’s body was reportedly discovered by a swimming pool attendant at the Beach Seafront Chalet Hotel at 4.30am.
According to his family, Oriaro had gone to Mombasa on August 9, for a work related seminar, and was to check out on August 23.
Prior to his death, he is said to have spent time with his family. The family says he was in perfect health condition.
The city lawyer is best remembered for filing a petition that led to the ouster of Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) chairman Mumo Matemu and his vice Irene Keino.
Oriaro argued that the two were incapable of leading the war on corruption.
His body has since been transferred to the Pandya Memorial Hospital mortuary.
