2 people died while several others were injured following a tragic accident which occurred on Saturday night along the Eldoret-Nakuru Highway.
The accident is reported to have occurred in the Sayatu area of Nakuru County, where a matatu ferrying foreigners rammed into a stationary truck.
Reports indicate that the matatu was ferrying passengers of Eritrean descent to Eldoret.
Witnesses reported that the stationary truck developed mechanical problems which necessitated it to be parked by the roadside.
Reports further indicate that the vehicle did not have its hazard lights on to warn other motorists of the mechanical problem.
The injured persons were transferred to the Nakuru Level Five Hospital for specialised treatment while the two who succumbed while at the hospital have been moved to the morgue.
Police have reported that the two are yet to be identified owing to the language barrier between the foreigners and the authorities.
Additionally, the twelve others are still receiving treatment at the facility with some being in critical condition.
The accident came a few hours after a teacher and a student from the Kapsabet Boys High School, lost their lives in a tragic accident involving the school’s bus in Baringo County.
