With inflation, the high cost of living, budgets exceeding their limits, and miscellaneous expenditures increasing, shoppers yearn for convenience and affordable offers.
That is why the BBS Mall, located at the heart of Eastleigh, is experiencing a large influx of shoppers, attracted by not only the ambience of the largest mall in East and Central Africa but also the special deals and the diverse goods and services offered.
I was recently scanning Instagram with my daughter, Sue, seeking a new experience in Nairobi.
Sue is a lively girl who loves a hearty meal, a cool ambience, and a perfect backdrop for her TikTok videos.
It was quite amusing when she typed “shopping Nairobi” on her Instagram and, voila! BBS Mall popped up among the top searches. This instantly makes you realise just how popular the mall is on Instagram.
As a Gen Z, Instagram and TikTok are her favourite soul-catching.
The moment I see her in her black boots, trench coat, leather handbag, and sunglasses, my wife and I know we're in for an exciting adventure out of the house.
As a family, shopping together enables us to spend time together. On a weekend afternoon, there’s nothing better than to find a mall where your children can have fun as you shop, and your car is parked safely too.
We’d never been to BBS Mall, except for Sue’s Instagram photos and videos. Some malls have amazing photos on their social media, but in reality, things are quite different.
We say kwa ground vitu ni different. Haa!
We fell in love with BBS Mall. And the amazing thing was that it was so packed, with high human traffic. Here’s why.
Time
As Nairobians, we love convenience. We appreciate anything that saves me both time and money while delivering an extraordinary shopping experience. Who wouldn’t want that?
BBS Mall is easily accessible and reachable within 10 minutes from the Nairobi CBD. The traffic is way less, either by PSV (matatus) or digital cabs.
Bikes take even shorter times, up to 7 minutes, as it is located near Pumwani Maternity Hospital.
What makes BBS Mall even more convenient is its accessibility from multiple routes into Eastleigh. It’s all about easy access, so you can effortlessly reach a shopping destination that’s both stylish and convenient.
Customers from Thika Road can access it via Muthaiga and Parklands, Allsops and Juja Road or even through Ngara.
Visitors can also access it via both Outering Road and Jogoo Road, depending on the locality of your estate.
The same applies to Mombasa Road, without passing through CBD.
Those plying from Waiyaki Way can branch through Museum Hill or through CBD.
These routes offer you an alternative during traffic. Basically, BBS Mall can be accessed from every point in Nairobi.
Easy Parking and Security
Every Nairobian dreads either lacking a parking spot that does not assure them of the safety of their automobiles or run-ins with kanjos (county askaris).
Oh, last one, parking boys.
BBS Mall has over 1500+ parking slots, with 24/7 CCTV cameras, and security personnel. Your car is always safe while you shop.
There is also a police station near the BBS mall to guarantee extra security.
The mall also has easy-to-track parking lots, designed and labeled to enable you to easily access your car, either underground or at the top.
We parked in the basement and the ticketing was quick—in seconds—with no frustrating queues.
The mall also has a 24-hour water and electricity supply boosted by high-tech backup generators.
Before going on a shopping spree, my wife and I dropped Sue, our daughter, off at one of her favorite spots, the gaming zone. I admit she is a gamer, and even I myself have lost to her multiple times haa!
Spoilt for Choice
As we left her to have fun, trusting the ample security in and outside the mall, my wife and I were now free to see the mall and its beauty.
At BBS Mall, you’re truly spoilt for choice—an eye-popping selection that turns every shopping trip into an adventure.
First of all, even before you satisfy your thirst and hunger for food or your desire for your choices and preferences, your eyes take you on a wild trip.
BBS Mall has over 1,500 retail stores, which offer customers and traders an opportunity to enjoy affordable offers and access untapped markets, respectively.
Customers at BBS Mall can enjoy a diverse range of services from various suppliers, including electronics, fashion, and household goods such as furniture and kitchen appliances. The mall brings together a wide array of traders from Eastleigh under one roof, featuring everything from SMEs to small-scale businesses.
The prices of the commodities are affordable and you can find all equipment under the same BBS Mall roof; there is no need to hop out to other areas.
BBS Mall also hosts over 8 banks, more than 20 fast food chains, global restaurants, hospitals, and cinema halls. Accessible via escalators, lifts, and staircases, the mall provides convenience and variety.
Notable shops include Optica, Goodlife Pharmacy, Cleanfax Laundry and Cleaners, Beyond Fruits, Healthy U, and NCBA, a lender listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
Additionally, the mall features Artcafe, Carrefour, Nairobi South Hospital, and Arkam Dinner & Sweets, among others.
Eight banks and more set to join soon are hosted at BBS Mall. At the mall you can find Absa Bank, SBM, National Bank, KCB, Diamond Trust Bank (DTB), and many others.
More unique features
BBS Mall boasts over 43 food outlets, that offer a diverse range of foods; Kenyan, Somali, Arabic, Indian, and Italian.
The restaurants operate at fair and regulated prices, and there is no need to leave the mall for a downtown food joint.
My wife and I decided to at least check out three restaurants with different menus.
We also found out that BBS Mall hosts a mosque with the capacity to host over 1,500 people.
BBS is also the only mall with a soon-to-be-opened Gold Souk.
I saw my wife smiling at me, and I knew that she had found her favourite spot.
Stores at the mall are easily accessible, unlike other trading centres where you ask for help constantly or get lost.
Although BBS Mall has customer care on the ground floor to assist you whenever necessary.
We picked up our daughter a few hours later and then took photos with amazing backdrops, including the water fountains, and scouted the expo facilities.
Corporates and organisations, both big and small, can host conferences, workshops, and other training at the BBS Mall at affordable rates.
The night caught us still marvelling at the beauty of the BBS Mall and I realised that most people even prefer shopping late, as stores don’t close early.
Looking at BBS Mall from my side mirrors as we drove away, it made Eastleigh look like a mini-Dubai, with its glowing lights.
