Safaricom Celebrates 24 Years with M-PESA Fee Refund & Business Fibre Discounts

Kenya’s biggest Telco, Safaricom PLC, announced on Wednesday that it will refund transaction fees for all M-PESA users in their first transactions of the day.

The refunds are part of the company’s celebrations marking its 24th anniversary since the Telco entered into the Kenyan market on October 23, 2000.

''As part of the celebration themed “24 Years of Transforming Lives: Celebrating Through Service,” Safaricom will be showing appreciation to its customers through a variety of service and product offerings across the country. These include special M-PESA surprises, merchandise giveaways, distribution of Mama Packs, transportation delights, and other exciting customer rewards,’’ Safaricom shared.

Safaricom also announced that it would not leave businesses that use its fibre services out of the important historical celebration and awarded Business Fibre subscribers a 25 percent discount for the first month of the Business Fibre 50mbps package.

Safaricom, therefore, advised prospective customers to join its business tariffs by dialing a USSD code *485#, for instant qualification. 

Currently, Safaricom offers high-speed connections with dependable performance that drives productivity and efficiency from as low as Ksh2,999 per month.

Safaricom has been a major game changer in the Kenyan communication space through her innovative ideas that span around mobile money transactions, voice services, internet solutions, and community empowerment projects.

In 2007, Safaricom launched the popular money transaction product, M-PESA, the world’s first Mobile Money transfer service, which has enabled Kenyans to transact and conduct their business with ease.

The telecommunications giant also enhanced its network connectivity, evolving from 2G to a 5G network covering wide regions including Kenya’s remote areas.

During its 24-year existence, the company also uplifted the lives of many Kenyans through its sports assets and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
