Blues suffer back-to-back defeats

Chelsea started the week in eighth place following back-to-back defeats in the Premier League. Frank Lampard’s blues hope to finish in the top-four and secure Champions League football again next term, but they must improve if they are to have any chance of achieving that.

Chelsea has won six, drawn four and lost three games, scoring 26 goals while conceding 14.

We last saw the home side in action when suffering a shock 2-1 defeat away to Wolves. It was a match most pundits expected them to win and they did take the lead on 49 minutes thanks to an opening goal from Giroud.

Plucky Wolves fought back and won the points with strikes from Podence on 66 minutes and Neto deep into stoppage-time.

Hammers target an upset

West Ham United would love nothing more than to travel across the city and stick the boot into their rivals. Victory would not only move the hammers up the table, but it would also put a dent in Chelsea’s chances of challenging for the title or even a top-four finish.

West Ham are no strangers to causing an upset and will go into this game in a confident mood.

The East London side are ninth in the charts with their form showing six wins and three draws against four defeats with 21 goals scored and 16 conceded.

They are performing better than many expected at this stage and will aim to improve on recent efforts to bag a top-10 finish, perhaps even put pressure on the Europa League slots.

Chelsea vs West Ham prediction

Chelsea have the home advantage and boast the better form of the two sides involved but the squad were rattled by those defeats and know they must steady the ship. West Ham will be aware of their opponent’s recent troubles and fans will be keen to see their players go on the front foot early.
