10 Injured As Matatu Rolls Several Times

10 people were injured when a 14 seater public service vehicle fell into a ditch along the Meru-Nairobi Highway.

The Sunday accident at Kangoroa near Chuka left four people with serious injuries.

The Nation reports that they were all treated at Chuka General Hospital.

One man, identified as Michael Waithaka, was transferred to Aga Khan Hospital after he sustained extensive injuries.

The spot has been identified as a black spot with several accidents being reported in the recent past.

Locals say the road becomes especially dangerous when it rains as mud is swept on the road, making it slippery.

They have urged the County Government to put up bumps on the road, in an effort to slow down vehicles.

The driver of the matatu says he applied emergency brakes, trying to avoid a pedestrian, when the vehicle lost control on the slippery road and rolled several times.
