The County Government of Kajiado, through the National Lands Commission (NLC), has announced plans to finalize the ownership of 375 parcels of land in some areas within the county for housing and mixed-use purposes.
In an official notice by NLC Chairman Gershom Otachi, the Commission announced to the public that the government will be changing the ownership of 63 parcels of land in Kajiado Township, 52 parcels in Bulbul Township, and 19 parcels in Isinya Township.
Other areas that will be affected by the ownership changes are 39 parcels in Namanga Township and 202 parcels in Noonkopirr Township, all within Kjiado County.
"Notice is hereby given that at the expiry of 30 days from the date of publication of this notice, the National Lands Commission, on behalf of the county government of Kajiado, intends to regularise tenure of land within the listed townships in Kajiado County for residential and mixed-purposes use," reads the notice published in one of the local dailies.
"Subject to terms, covenants, conditions, and reservations which shall be included in the conveyance document by Section 14 of the Land Act 2012," read part of the statement.
Interested parties have been invited to share their concerns within 15 days of the publication of the notice.
"Any interested persons wishing to raise any comments may do so to the Chairman NLC within 15 days from the date of publication of this notice," the chairman directed.
The chairman has revealed that if there will be no valid objections, the allocation shall take place at the Commission's office in Nairobi, Upper Hill Chambers from 2:30pm on the next working day following the expiry of the notice.
According to the NLC chairman, the said parcels of land are planned and surveyed and ownership details may be inspected at the offices of the County Executive Committee Members (CECM) in charge of Lands, Kajiado county, Director of Surveys in Nairobi, and NLC offices.
The county government aims to make the ownership and use of the land official and legal.
The this move, the county government will be formally recognizing who owns the land, ensuring all legal documents are in order, and resolving any disputes or unclear ownership issues.
This process aims to provide landowners with clear and secure rights to their property.
