11 Pupils Rescued After Being Trapped For Hours In Floods

11 Makini school pupils were on Wednesday morning rescued after being trapped in their school bus following heavy rains in Nairobi.

The pupils were being dropped off home on Tuesday evening when they were caught up in the floods around South C area.

Police say the students had to stand on their seats for over ten hours as they waited to be rescued.

The pupils were taken to Boma Hotel in the morning waiting to be picked up by their parents.

The heavy rains has led to the loss of lives throughout the country with property worth millions being destroyed. The meteorological department predicts that it will continue to rain heavily for the next one month.

Through a facebook post, Nairobi senator Mike Sonko lauded the efforts of the rescue team and urged all institutions to avoid late hour trips during the rainy season.
