Healthcare facilities will henceforth be required to register online following the launch of a fully digital registration by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC)

In a statement on Monday, May 26, KMPDC announced that the system is meant to streamline operations, promote transparency, and enhance service delivery.

“In a move to modernise healthcare regulation, the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has launched a fully digital health facility registration system. In this step, applicants have been urged to ensure that there are no spaces before or after email input, make sure that the password and confirm password details are similar, create a strong password for security, and ensure that all fields are filled and all details are correct

Once done, click on register, then move on to the next stage, where applicants will need to check their emails after clicking on the Resend Verification Button to verify their email address. The email address will typically arrive in 5 to 10 seconds.

The next step will require logging into the created account by clicking on the resend link button, which will redirect you to the sign-in page. Key in the details as registered and then click the log in button.

Next, you will be required to create a profile, which requires several details, including a profile photo, which should be below 2MBs. On the service category, choose Health Facility. Click save on completion.

Then, click on the 'select a service' button on the top right corner of your page and select 'register a new facility'

In the new interface, the applicants will be guided through a step-by-step guide to provide crucial institutional information, including facility name, location and classification.

Furthermore, they will be required to include the details of directors, services offered, personnel available, and certified documentation to demonstrate compliance with applicable laws.

Registration will be granted only after verification of all submitted information, with any discrepancies resulting in rejection. Therefore, KMPDC called for accurate and honest submissions.

After Inspection by KMPDC officers, applications will then be processed within 21 working days from the date of inspection.

Among some of the benefits the new system is expected to offer are data accuracy, automated validation, and ensuring real-time audit trails. It will also provide a centralised digital record to improve retrieval and updates.

It will further allow 24/7 access for applicants and streamlines internal workflows through automated alerts and approvals.
