Rainfall is expected to continue over several regions across the country this week, with Highlands East of the Rift Valley expected to experience low temperatures, especially on Thursday, when temperatures are set to drop to one degree Celsius according to the Kenya Meteorological Department.
In a statement on Monday, May 26, the department confirmed that the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Central Rift Valley, and the Coast will receive rain between Tuesday, May 27, and Saturday, May 31.
Residents in Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi Counties are expected to experience cloudy conditions breaking into sunny intervals for most mornings throughout the week, except Thursday, when it is expected to rain over a few places.
In the afternoons and nights, the weatherman has predicted that these counties will receive showers in a few places, except for Friday night, when it is predicted to be partly cloudy.The maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to be 28 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be one degree Celsius, on Thursday night.
Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta Counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana River County, are set to experience sunny intervals throughout the week in the morning and afternoon, except on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons when showers are predicted to hit a few places. The nights will be partly cloudy.
According to the weatherman, the maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to be 31 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be 12 degrees Celsius.
Residents in Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties, as well as Tana River County, are expected to receive showers in a few places throughout the week during the morning, afternoon, and night, except on Wednesday night when it is predicted to remain partly cloudy.
These counties are expected to experience a maximum temperature of 32 degrees and a minimum temperature of 24 degrees.
Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot Counties are predicted to receive showers over a few places during the night and afternoon throughout the week. However, sunny intervals are set to be experienced on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings, while Thursday and Saturday mornings are expected to be sunny.
The maximum temperatures during this period are expected to be 29 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperatures will be 10 degrees Celsius.
Turkana and Samburu Counties are expected to be sunny during the day, while nights will remain partly cloudy. According to the weatherman, the maximum temperatures in these counties are expected to be 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will be 11 degrees Celsius.
The weatherman has further warned that strong winds, exceeding 25 knots (12.86 m/s), are expected to hit the Coast, Southern-Eastern Lowlands, and North-eastern and North-western regions of the country.
