The High Court in Nanyuki has convicted a woman of the 2020 murder of her boyfriend in the Likii area of Laikipia County
According to a report by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the prosecution had proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
Led by Jackson Motende and Esther Kimani, the prosecution presented ten witnesses whose testimony detailed the chain of events leading to the fatal incident.
It was established that on the night of July 5, 2020, the couple engaged in a violent confrontation following a dispute earlier in the day.
During the argument, the woman reportedly attacked her boyfriend violently and threatened to end his life.
After the threats, the deceased's body was found dumped on the roadside with a fatal stab wound to the abdomen, just hours after the confrontation.
With these details, Justice Anthony Ndung’u ruled that the prosecution had proved the charge of murder beyond a reasonable doubt and found her guilty.
The woman is thus set to be sentenced on September 2.
Although rare, this is not the first time a woman has landed in legal trouble for the murder of their significant other.
In 2021, a woman from Chogoria Town, Tharaka Nithi County, was arrested after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death after he reportedly refused to spend the night at her house.
She was accused of driving a kitchen knife into the right side of her boyfriend's chest before attempting to take her own life by stabbing herself in the stomach.
In December 2024, another lady from Siaya County surrendered herself to the police after stabbing her lover to death over infidelity.
Earlier this year, another woman in Nairobi was arrested on suspicion of stabbing her boyfriend 27 times when he visited her in Kamakis on the night of December 17 to discuss their failing relationship.
