KUCCPS Opens Applications for KMTC Courses With 14-Day Deadline

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced the opening of the application portal for students seeking admission into Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) programmes.

In a notice issued on Tuesday evening, KUCCPS announced that the application window will run from October 1 to October 14, giving aspiring medical students two weeks to submit their applications.

According to KUCCPS, the placement exercise will cover a wide range of programmes under health sciences, with opportunities available for both certificate and diploma levels across KMTC campuses across the country. 

Among the certificate courses to be applied are Medical Engineering, Orthopaedic Trauma Medicine, Health Records and Information Technology, Emergency Medical Technician, Public Health, Nutrition and Dietetics, Community Health Assistant, and Health Insurance Management.

Diploma programmes available include Mortuary Science, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Physiotherapy, Community Health, Radiography and Imaging, Public Health, Medical Social Work, Nutrition and Dietetics.

Others include Occupational Therapy, Health Counselling, Medical Engineering, Pharmacy, Health Records and Information Technology, Orthopaedic Technology, Speech and Language Therapy, and Health Promotion.

How to Apply

Students interested in applying have been directed to log in to the KUCCPS Students’ Portal to view detailed programme requirements and submit their applications online.

To join KMTC to pursue a Certificate course, you must have a minimum of a C- with specific qualifications in cluster subjects in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE). 

For Diploma programmes, you must have attained a minimum of C with specific qualifications in cluster subjects. 

Upgrading courses require that a candidate has a certificate in a respective field, while for Higher Diploma programmes, candidates must have attained a Diploma course as per the following guidelines.

Meanwhile, the opportunity is expected to give hundreds of students a chance and help respond to Kenya’s growing demand for healthcare professionals, with KMTC being one of the largest trainers of medical personnel in the country.

Over the years, KMTC has produced professionals who play a critical role in the public health sector, with graduates deployed across the country to support the government's universal health delivery aspirations in hospitals, clinics, and community health units.
