Makadara Member of Parliament George Aladwa has dismissed claims of deputizing Chama Cha Kazi party leader Moses Kuria in the Nairobi gubernatorial race in the 2027 general elections.

The ODM MP said this during the launch of Raila Odinga classrooms on December 2, 2025, in Nairobi.

The Member of Parliament refuted the claims saying that he shall vie for the gubernatorial seat under the ODM party.

"I have said that I will not be Moses Kuria's deputy, I will be vying for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat under the ODM party in 2027," Aladwa affirmed.

Aladwa said that if Kuria insists on vying for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat, he should be ready to face him in the ballot in 2027.

On November 30, 2025, Moses Kuria posted on his social media platforms a campaign poster of his gubernatorial campaigns that had his portrait next to Aladwa's photo, seemingly announcing Aladwa as his deputy in 2027.

"Because we have many years of combined leadership and managerial experience. Because we are not tribal," Kuria's post read.

The MP also criticized the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's claim of reserving all the Nairobi elective seats for his DCP party.

"There is a leader by the name Gachagua who just the other day talked about tribalism. He claims that one community will take all the elective positions in Nairobi. I want to tell Gachagua to stop tribalism," Aladwa claimed.

During the event, Aladwa highlighted his political achievements and service to Nairobi residents, claiming that he has all it takes to lead Nairobi.

Aladwa served as the Mayor of Nairobi from 2011 to 2013 and has also served as the ODM Nairobi County Chairman.
