Police officers from Laare Police Station have arrested six additional suspects linked to the violent sexual assault reported in Laare Town, Igembe North Sub-County.
Drawing on forensic leads, community intelligence, and witness accounts, detectives launched an intensive search for the perpetrators of the crime.
The sleuths carried out targeted operations across the Irinde, Lubwa, and Kiarama areas.
In a press release on December 3, 2025, the police stated that they had successfully tracked down and arrested the six suspects, despite their hiding in separate locations.
These arrests bring the total number of suspects in custody to nine, including the three who were arrested on December 1, 2025, the day the incident occurred.
In their statement, police say all nine are currently being processed, with case files being prepared for arraignment.
The authorities said officers were dispatched following a distress call from residents who reported that a young woman had been attacked by a group of men who were participating in a traditional circumcision procession.
Responding promptly, officers located the victim and transported her to Nyambene Hospital for urgent medical care and support services.
Investigators believe several more individuals may have participated in the assault, and efforts are underway to identify and locate them.
“As the investigation unfolds, detectives remain focused on identifying and apprehending additional suspects involved in this heinous crime, ensuring that no perpetrator evades justice,” the press release read.
Officers have appealed to citizens to share any information that may help in the arrest of the remaining suspects.
Police reiterated their commitment to ensuring that every person involved in the assault is held accountable.
