Chaos in Isiolo as Uhuru Jets in to Campaign for Jubilee

Chaos erupted in Isiolo on Saturday morning ahead of a rally graced by President Uhuru Kenyatta to drum up support for the Jubilee party.

The chaos began after a war of words between supporters of local leaders degenerated into stone-throwing and running battles in Isiolo Stadium, the same venue where the president was set to address a public rally later in the day.

As the President jetted into Isiolo to consolidate the region's vote, open division played out with violent confrontation among supporters of various aspirants in the gubernatorial race.

Supporters of Governor Godana Doyo (Party for Development and Reforms - PDR) Senator Mohamed Kuti (Independent candidate) and Abdul Buhari (Jubilee) engaged in fights as they hurled stones at each other.

Police moved in swiftly to restore order before the arrival of the Head of State.

The Northern Kenya region has formed various parties that have thrown their weight behind President Kenyatta as the country prepares for the August General Election.

Among them are Economic Freedom Party (EFP), Frontier Alliance party (FAP) and Party for Development and Reforms (PDR).
