IPSOS Poll Reveals Narrow Margin Between NASA's Raila Odinga and Jubilee's Uhuru Kenyatta

An opinion poll released today by research firm IPSOS Synovate is likely to take Jubilee leaders back to the drawing board.

The poll conducted between May 11 and May 23 indicates that President Uhuru Kenyatta's lead is getting narrower while Opposition chief Raila Odinga is gaining ground.

According to the poll, if elections were to be held today, Jubilee's Uhuru would win with 47% followed closely by Raila Odinga of the National Super Alliance (NASA) at 42%.

With only 5% points separating the two leading contenders, the race is turning into a two-horse race.

None of the candidates would get more than 50% of the votes meaning that the elections would head to a run-off.

8% of those polled are still undecided and could make the critical swing vote that could see any of the two leading candidates emerge victorious.

The poll further revealed that 1% of those polled would not vote because they have lost faith in politicians and feel that their vote does not determine the leadership of the country.

A massive 71% of those polled believe that the country is headed in the wrong direction.

52% of Jubilee supporters believe that the nation is headed in the wrong direction compared to NASA 91% who feel the same.

Jubilee party enjoys the greatest support at 45% with NASA following closely at 41%.

With less than 3 months to the polls, the remaining few days will see the two candidates move out aggressively to gain the needed votes.
