Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and Mike Sonko Major Causalties of Integrity List

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and Senator Mike Sonko have been dealt major blows after the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) submitted their names among the major casualties of the integrity issues.

EACC noted that the leaders had been accused of different integrity related issues ranging from violation of contract laws to misusing of public funds.

On Friday, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) acknowledged receipt of a red list that contained 106 aspirants from the EACC who were not fit to hold public office among them Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and his main rival Mike Sonko.

In response to the integrity list, Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero slammed the Ethics Commission for trying to bar him from vying during the August elections days after he had been cleared by the electoral body on Wednesday.

While addressing the media yesterday at Mwangaza Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kayole, Nairobi Dr. Kidero stated that he has been cleared by the anti-corruption agency three weeks ago and insisted that he was not under any investigations.

In addition to being cleared by the same commission that later listed him as unfit to lead, Dr. Kidero stated that he had been issued with a certificate of good conduct by the Criminal Investigation Department and given a green light by the Kenya Revenue Authority.

In what he claimed was a cheeky move, he said the Ethics Commission was playing politics with issues of integrity so as to block him from defending his Nairobi gubernatorial seat.

Citing political malice by the EACC and coercion by powerful political players out to frustrate his bid in August, Dr. Kidero assured that his name would appear on the ballot after he had been cleared by the electoral body.

He will face off against Jubilee’s Mike Sonko and Independents Peter Kenneth and Miguna Miguna as his main rivals

Other governors in the EACC red list, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria, Isiolo governor Adhi Godana, Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong
