2 Boys Face Starvation After Mother Arrested

Two siblings in Kamira, Murang'a County are facing starvation after their mother was arrested for brewing illicit alcohol.

The two boys have been neglected by villagers who blame their mother for their sons addiction.

The eldest, a 16-year-old boy identified as Peter, said he had to take care of his six-year-old brother after their elder brother left them alone following their mother's arrest.

A village elder interviewed by The Nation said that the locals did not want to help the boys claiming that their mother had destroyed lives while running her brewing business.

Residents said the woman had been warned several times before she was apprehended but had refused to close her drinking den.

According to the villagers, similar cases where children had been left to fend for themselves after their parents were arrested had been reported.

The mother of the boys was among those arrested when the President gave a directive to destroy all the second generation alcohol in the country.
