National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate Raila Odinga on Friday visited President Uhuru Kenyatta's stronghold of Tharaka Nithi County.
The Opposition Leader was warmly welcomed by the residents who promised to support him and his NASA team.
The former Prime Minister on his part noted that his government would ensure that youth get employment and asked the residents to vote for NASA.
"Canaan is our destiny and Tharaka Nithi is part of the Kenyans heading to Canaan. Mara hii hakuna kuiba kura tena...(This time round there will be no rigging of elections).
"... hapa tumekuja kama wakulima wa kahawa, wa majani chai na najua wako na shida ... sisi tutahakikisha vijana watapata ajira..." Raila stated.
Loosely translated: "We have come here as coffee and tea farmers and we know they have problems [but] we will ensure the youth get employment".
Raila was accompanied by Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula. Tharaka Nithi is a perceived a Jubilee stronghold after it overwhelmingly voted for President Kenyatta in 2013.
The County marked the first point of Raila's tour of the Central and Eastern regions. On Saturday the opposition leader is scheduled to make a visit to Kiambu County where he will hold a rally at Thika Stadium.
