Othaya MP Mary Wambui Says Former President Mwai Kibaki is in Good Health

Othaya Member of Parliament (MP) Mary Wambui has dismissed reports that former President Mwai Kibaki is unwell.

Speaking on Thursday, Ms Wambui emphasised that the former Head of State was in good health.

She further stated that Kibaki had sent greetings to all Kenyan citizens.

Wambui made the remarks following last week's reports that alleged Kibaki had been taken to a Nairobi Hospital.

The MP is a close ally to the family of the retired Head of State.

Earlier on, Kibaki’s Spokesperson Ngare Gituku had rubbished reports that he (Kibaki) had been hospitalised.

Ngare assured Kenyans that the former president was doing well adding that he was nowhere near a sanatorium (medical facility for long-term illness).

Kibaki served as the country's Commander in Chief from 2002 to 2013 before he was succeeded by incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The retired President was last hospitalised in 2016, the same year that his wife, Lucy Kibaki passed on.
