Teso Labour Party of Kenya Leaders Ask President Uhuru Kenyatta to Fund Their Campaigns

Leaders from the Labour Party of Kenya, which is led Budalangi Member of Parliament (MP) Ababu Namwamba, have asked the Jubilee Party to facilitate their campaigns.

Led by Busia Woman Representative aspirant Aquinata Mulama, the leaders from Teso County complained that despite selling the Jubilee manifesto in the region, President Uhuru Kenyatta had not facilitated them.

“Convincing people to move from NASA to Jubilee is a difficult task, but we have managed to change some without getting any support from our party leader, who always tells us to wait for a reply from the president,” Mulama expressed.

Malaba North Ward MCA aspirant Peter Atabong Okisa stated that the president was only supporting Jubilee candidates, yet Labour Party candidates were using their own funds to drum support for him.

Okisa urged Jubilee to support their efforts because there was an agreement that they would be funded.

He added that Namwamba had earlier booked an appointment with the president to discuss the matter.

“We cannot blame our party leader until we confirm whether he was given some funds,” Okisa highlighted.

Namwamba resigned as ODM Secretary General late last year after differing with the party's leaders.

He went ahead to join the Labour Party before announcing his move to support President Kenyatta’s re-election bid in March.
