Car of Missing IEBC Manager Christopher Msando Found in Kasarani

Police have found the vehicle of the senior IEBC technology manager who was reported missing on Friday.

Mr Christopher Msando's car, a grey Land Rover Discovery, was found parked behind the Thika Road Mall on Thika Superhighway and was towed to Kasarani Police Station.

The whereabouts of Mr Msando are still unknown and family members are yet to hear from him.

County Police boss Japhet Koome has stated that the search for the missing manager is ongoing and said his team was trying to trace the manager's movements.

"It is hard for us at this point to tell whether he is safe or not, but we hope for the best,

“We will let you know of any development," Mr Koome said.

The vehicle was dusted for fingerprints early Monday morning as police try to look for any leads.

By virtue of his position, Mr Musando could be holding sensitive information on logs to the Kenya Integrated Electoral Management Systems (Kiems), which will ensure that rigging doesn’t take place in this year’s elections.

In a statement sent to newsrooms, IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati said the commission is working closely with police and family members to establish his whereabouts.

Mr Chebukati said the missing official’s last communication was a text message to one of his colleagues at around 3am on Saturday.

“The content of the SMS suggests that he was conscious and fully aware of his itinerary for that day.

"The commission together with family members is working closely with the police to establish whereabouts,” Mr Chebukati said, adding the commission would issue a more comprehensive statement after establishing more facts about the incident.
