Six people have sustained injuries after a commotion broke out at polling stations in Mathare North Social Hall and Donholm Primary School in Nairobi.
One person was seriously injured while five others suffered minor injuries.
Sam Kahura, the Mathare Social Hall Presiding Officer, confirmed the incident and expressed confidence that voting would continue smoothly.
The injured were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
In a different incident, two people were injured at Ziwa La Ng’ombe polling station in Mombasa after a stampede.
The commotion occurred after voters tried to skip the long queues.
Normalcy has since been restored after police moved in and intervened.
The elections kicked off at 6:00 am in the country with many stations reporting long queues.
