NASA Leaders Reject Provisional Presidential Results

The National Super Alliance (NASA) has disputed the live presidential results being streamed on the IEBC website terming them as illegal.

In a statement to newsrooms, NASA Leader Raila Odinga termed the IEBC results transmission as totally unacceptable and illegal since the results were not supported by any evidence.

According to Mr Odinga, the results being transmitted are not accurate since they are not accompanied by form 34As as required by the law.

"NASA is concerned about the fact that IEBC has been streaming results from around the country which are not supported by Form 34A as is strictly required by law.

"What is going on right now is a sham and a total disregard of Section 39 of the Elections Act which requires IEBC to stream all form 34s on the public portal," Odinga's statement read in part.

"We, therefore, reject all the results streamed so far and demand that IEBC produces form 34As from all polling stations before any further results are announced," the NASA flag bearer further stated.

IEBC, however, noted that suspending the results transmission could cause tension in the country.

Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju dismissed Raila's claims stating that the NASA team are the ones who advocated for change of law to allow final results be announced by Presiding and Returning officers at the station.

“Announcement by presiding officers and returning officers is final and court ruled on that, why change now. We have also not received the forms but respecting the law,’” he stated.

So far, the provisional results indicate that President Uhuru Kenyatta is leading with over 7 Million votes while Odinga is second with slightly over 6 Million votes.
