Cook, Watchman and Mechanic Win in Kericho and Kiambu County Elections

A watchman, mechanic and a cook have surprised many after they beat all odds to win County Assembly seats in BelgutKiambu and Ainamoi areas.

In Kiambu’s Kahawa Wendani ward, mechanic Cyrus Omondi, popularly known as Gearbox, secured the MCA seat after garnering 5,087 votes against Michael Irungu's 1,902 votes. 

Prior to the win, Mr Omondi had been serving as Chair of the Kahawa Youth Initiative.

In Belgut, Kericho County, cook Daniel Ng’etich emerged victorious in Waldai ward representative after getting 3,752 votes against his rival Justice Kibet's 2,497 votes.

Prior to the elections, Ng'etich served as a cook for seven years at Sosiot Girls’ Secondary School.

He has been described as a humble and fervent prayer warrior.

The Waldai MCA-elect previously preached in local churches and was a famous Sunday school teacher in vocation Bible schools.

In Kericho’s Ainamoi Constituency, Mr Eric Bett won the Kichebor ward seat after securing 2,155 against his challenger Daniel Cheruiyot who got 456 votes.

Mr Bett surprised the residents after winning since he conducted his campaigns using handcarts as compared to his rivals who campaigned in caravans.

Many residents have described him as humble and noted that his humility played a huge role in his win.
