Uasin Gishu Governor-elect Jackson Mandago has declared that he will fire some members of his Cabinet over what he termed as a betrayal that almost cost him the elections.
Speaking on Monday, the Jubilee politician revealed that he was aware some county employees wanted him to lose the elections, urging them to seek forgiveness if they wanted to remain in his government.
"I am back but they should know there is a second chance to repent. I am ready to work with everyone who will be willing to serve the public and always do what they are supposed to do as public servants," the Governor maintained.
He expressed disappointment in the poor performance by his cabinet stating that he would not work with lazy public servants in his second term.
"I will have to take a retreat so that I go and dream about my cabinet. It will depend on performance, but there will be a mix here and there. Definitely, you don't expect me to retain everybody or sack everyone," he added.
Mandago, who aligned himself with the NASA coalition, during the tail-end of his campaigns affirmed that he would work with his political rival Bundotich Buzeki who had already conceded defeat.
He dismissed claims that he was targeting to remove specific communities from Eldoret.
"I assure every one of their safety and security in Eldoret and all residents should take it from me that my administration will serve everybody equally,” he confirmed.
Mandago is due to be sworn in on August 18th at Eldoret Sports Club.
