Thirdway Alliance to be Enjoined in the NASA Presidential Election Petition

A new development has emerged as the National Super Alliance (NASA) prepares to file a petition challenging the re-election of President  Uhuru Kenyatta.

Thirdway Alliance Kenya led by Presidential aspirant Ekuru Aukot will now be enjoined in the election petition at the Supreme Court.

On Wednesday night, Dr Aukot confirmed that the Thirdway Alliance Kenya will be represented at the Supreme Court as an interested party during the presidential election petition.

Earlier on, the Supreme Court announced that its registry will be open from 7 am to midnight on Friday (today) to allow time for filing of all presidential election petitions.

Esther Nyaiyaki, Supreme Court registrar, on Thursday, said similar accommodation will be given to President's team to respond to the petition(s) tabled.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga announced this week that his team would move to the Supreme Court to challenge the declaration of Kenyatta as president-elect.

NASA leaders claim the election was rigged and have stated that they have enough proof of the same.

They will, however, have to pay Sh1.5 Million when filing the presidential election petition and this figure may rise.

According to the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi, NASA will part with Sh500,000 fees for filing the case.

Amadi further stated that the Opposition leaders will also be required to also pay Sh1 Million as "security for cost".
