27 Counties Anchoring NASA Presidential Petition

The National Super Alliance (NASA) led by Raila Odinga has produced a list of 27 Counties where it claims vote rigging happened at the polling stations.

According to the Opposition's presidential election petition filed at the Supreme Court, the 27 counties namely; Tharaka Nithi, Nyandarua, Mombasa, Meru, Kwale, Machakos, Wajir, Kitui, Kisumu, Kisii, Busia, Turkana, Kilifi, Nakuru, West Pokot, Bomet, Kericho, Homa Bay, Taita Taveta, Lamu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Makueni, Siaya, Uasin Gishu, Narok and Isiolo had massive irregularities.

NASA notes that in some of the counties, their agents were chased away while in others, erroneous Form 34As were submitted and numbers inflated in favour of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The Opposition further claimed that in some stations within Rift Valley and Central regions, which are perceived as Jubilee strongholds, their agents were chased away and imposters hired to sign Form 34As.

"In many polling stations within the Central Kenya region and the Rift Valley region, legitimate agents of the petitioner were chased away from the stations and replaced by imposters who were caused to create fictitious names and sign blank Form 34As," NASA's petition read in part.

The coalition alleged that in Nairobi, Nyandarua, Mombasa, Meru, Kwale, Machakos, Wajir, Kitui, Kisii and Nakuru counties, the votes announced at the Bomas national tallying centre did not tally with what was in Form 34As, alluding to the fact that President Kenyatta got extra votes in these regions.

NASA also submitted that key election procedures like stamping of Form 34As were not done, giving an example of Likoni Constituency and some areas in Nairobi where the forms were unsigned.

In Kirinyaga County, specifically Ndia Constituency, the Opposition mentioned that at Kiangai Primary School, Form 34A indicated Uhuru had 461 votes while form 34B showed 467 votes.

In Turkana County, majorly Turkana South Constituency, NASA noted that there was a discrepancy in the number of valid votes. The total number of valid votes cast is 25,779 whereas the total number of votes cast for all other candidates totalled to 22,590.

The Opposition claims that in Wajir and West Pokot, IEBC officials who had been initially placed to oversee the election were replaced with strangers

In Makueni, NASA alleged that President Kenyatta and his team bribed voters and threatened to sack chiefs who did not toe their line.

NASA is relying on the evidence from the said counties as one of the key pillars of their petition and is hoping that the Supreme Court would consider the magnitude of their evidence in delivering their ruling.
