Two people have been killed by suspected Al Shabaab militants in Lango la Simba area, Tana River County.
Tana River OCPD Riziki Ali stated that the two were motorists.
Kenya’s Coastal region has recently come under a series of Al Shabaab attacks, with the terror group said to be hiding out in Lamu’s Boni Forest. This has been their base as they wreak havoc on residents of surrounding areas.
Operation Linda Boni was the government’s plan to take on the terrorists and flush them out of the area.
Recently, the government resolved to drop bombs on the forest with residents being urged to move away to escape being collateral damage.
Speaking following the commencement of the operation about two weeks ago, Riziki told the press, “We have also heard huge blasts in Nyongoro. We don’t know what is happening but we have sent a team to establish and update us.”
