Raila Reacts to Ruling on Nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta's Victory

National Super Alliance (NASA) Leader Raila Odinga has issued a statement after the Supreme Court nullified the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking outside the Supreme Court buildings, Mr Odinga noted that he was very grateful to the Supreme Court for annulling the elections and thanked his lawyers for perfectly prosecuting the case.

"I would like to thank the Supreme Court judges led by Chief Justice David Maraga for delivering the ruling, I thank our lawyers for working tirelessly for this case and all Kenyans who gathered evidence for this case," Odinga stated.

Mr Odinga further noted that the nullification of results was a triumph for the country and affirmed that "the journey to Cannan is unstoppable".

Regarding IEBC, the ODM Leader stated that NASA lacked faith in IEBC alluding to the fact that they will move to seek for the prosecution of the commissioners.

"We have no faith at IEBC as currently constituted.They belong to jail we are going to ask for prosecution of all IEBC officers who committed this crime to the people of Kenya," Odinga stated.

His statement was echoed by NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka who mentioned that the Court has done Kenyans proud and lived up to its mandate.

"We thank the Court for their ruling, I am happy to be a Kenyan today," he stated.

Kalonzo also expressed lack of confidence with the IEBC adding that the current commission wasn't capable of conducting a free and fair election.

Third Way Alliance Leader Ekuru Aukot on his part thanked the Court for making a wise decision.

He added that his party would move to pursue all people who committed illegalities in the election.

"IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati and his team must be punished, the United Nations (UN) should hold the next election, Chebukati must be charged," Aukot stated.
