President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid is under serious threat after Kisii, Nyamira and Bungoma County residents vowed to punish him over the recent verbal attacks on Chief Justice David Maraga.
A group of residents from Kisii County on Monday held demonstrations against Kenyatta's onslaught against the Judiciary which annulled his win in the August election.
The residents chanted anti-Uhuru slogans and noted that come the election day, they would kick President Kenyatta out of office.
"Uhuru we are telling you, we don't want your intimidation, we as Gusii are saying Uhuru must go," one of the residents stated.
Bungoma residents also held protests over President Kenyatta's attack on the Judiciary stating that they would deal with the Jubilee team on the election day by voting them out.
The protests by Bungoma and Kisii residents came only a day after Nyamira voters took to the streets to demonstrate over the same attacks.
The Nyamira group led by their local leaders announced that the County will not vote for President Kenyatta because of the abuse on one of their sons (CJ Maraga).
"Uhuru should not come again to Nyamira County again to ask for our votes. He has abused a leader whom we respect as a County," one of the leaders stated.
The protests and announcements from the three counties could cause a major threat to President Kenyatta's re-election considering that Jubilee had gained massive ground in the three areas perceived to be Opposition strongholds.
In Bungoma County, President Kenyatta gained 60,000 new votes and cut NASA Leader Raila Odinga's lead by almost half.
2013: Uhuru- 42,998 Raila 185, 419.
2017 Uhuru- 122, 100 Raila 278, 901.
In Nyamira, President Kenyatta turned tables in beating Mr Odinga with over 10,000 votes.
2013: Uhuru- 54,071, Raila 121,59.
2017: Uhuru- 100,658, Raila 89, 638.
Kisii County saw Uhuru gaining widely as compared to the past election. In 2017, Raila got 210,305 votes while Uhuru managed 163,928. In the 2013 elections, Raila had 236,831 while Uhuru got 95,596 votes.
