11 people were killed after several vehicles crashed on the Nairobi-Thika superhighway near EABL on Wednesday afternoon.
The accident is said to have occurred after a matatu crashed into a lorry.
Kasarani OCPD Joseph Wambua disclosed that they are investigating the incident.
"We are yet to determine the exact number of casualties as well as the cause of the accident. We are urging members of the public to stay calm," Wambua told The Star on phone.
Following the incident, there was a heavy traffic snarl up on the busy highway with road users being advised to use alternative routes.
A huge crowd also gathered at the scene of the accident as rescue operations went on.
