Worker of Late Minister Nicholas Biwott Found Dead

A worker of the late influential minister Nicholas Biwott has been found dead in a swamp in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

The body of James Kimutai was discovered on Friday in Samabul village in Kabiemit, Keiyo South Constituency.

The 27-year-old was reportedly found dead by students who were heading to school.

Kabiemit Chief William Murgor confirmed the incident noting that the body was taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) morgue.

"We will establish the cause of death after a post-mortem. Police are already investigating," he noted.

He further indicated that the worker reported to work and left on Thursday evening when he may have met his death.

"He was heading to his home from Biwott's farm. We suspect he was drunk at the time of the incident," he noted.

Mr Biwott, the powerful Cabinet Minister who served during President Daniel Moi's era, died in July 2017 after a long illness.

Until his death, he was the leader of National Vision Party.
