Former Vihiga Governor Moses Akaranga Reveals He Was Kicked Out of NASA

Former Vihiga Governor Moses Akaranga has revealed that he was kicked out of the National Super Alliance (NASA).

Akaranga, who recently expressed support for President Uhuru Kenyatta in the upcoming polls, divulged that his exit was not in good faith as some of the top officials forced him out of the coalition.

“I was an unwanted visitor in NASA. They sued me, and I was ordered to pay Sh500,000 fine and remove their symbols from my campaign materials,” he noted while addressing his supporters at Elwunzwa village in Vihiga.

Mr Akaraga also noted that the NASA leaders frustrated his campaign bid by intimidating his followers.

He indicated that the actions of the Opposition leaders frustrated him forcing him to seek refuge in Jubilee Party.

“I have carried all my belongings to Jubilee. I ask my supporters to follow me to the new house where I am recognised and comfortable. I have been preaching about NASA in this county, but I have changed the tune to Jubilee. NASA took me to court,” he said.

During the campaign period, the IEBC censured the former Governor who unsuccessfully defended his seat on a PPK ticket and fined him Sh500,000 for contravening the electoral code of conduct.

The Electoral Commission Disciplinary Committee indicated that Mr Akaranga had used symbols of NASA leader Raila Odinga which is contrary to the law.

Also present in the rally was the former National Assembly Speaker Kenneth Marende who asked Mr Akaranga and other leaders from the region to support Kenyatta's presidential bid.

“As Vihiga leaders we should work as a team and support President Kenyatta. It will be foolish of us to support the Opposition,” Mr Marende said.
