Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Wafula Chebukati fired his personal assistant Gekara Muoni on Sunday evening for allegedly being behind the series of leaked memos from Mr Chebukati's office.
Mr Gekara Muoni now becomes the third assistant sent home by Chebukati since February this year.
Two memos from the Chairperson to Chief Executive Officer Ezra Chiloba leaked to the public within a span of three weeks. Mr. Chebukati promised to investigate and find the source of the leaks.
The first memo saw Mr Chebukati demand answers to twelve tough questions from Ezra Chiloba on the handling of the August 8th polls.
This came after the Supreme Court of Kenya nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta's win citing various irregularities and illegalities committed by the electoral body.
Two weeks later, another memo surfaced online from Chebukati to Chiloba seeking the suspension of three officials in the ICT department; Director James Muhati, ICT Co-ordinator Paul Mugo and ICT officer Boniface Wamae.
It later emerged that Chebukati sought to suspend the three after his efforts to suspend the Chief Executive Ezra Chiloba failed.
The National Super Alliance (NASA) has demanded the removal of Chiloba among other officials as a condition for their participation in the fresh polls.
They have unveiled plans to force the officials out of office though street protests if they do not step aside by themselves.
Jubilee Party, on the other hand, has demanded that NASA respect the independence of the electoral body, insisting that the election must be held on October 26th.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Keriako Tobiko, on Saturday, ordered a probe into the conduct of electoral officials who oversaw the botched elections. This is after the full ruling delivered by the Supreme Court failed to implicate specific officers.
