National Super Alliance Presidential candidate Raila Odinga has confirmed reports that his security detail has been withdrawn.
He was addressing a press conference at his Capitol Hill offices on Tuesday where he spoke on various issues pertaining to their pre-conditions for the fresh election.
When asked about the withdrawal of his security, Mr Odinga stated: "My biggest security is the people of Kenya. Under the law, I am entitled to security. I don't enjoy it at the behest of President Uhuru Kenyatta."
On whether he was informed of the move in advance, the Opposition chief responded by saying: "I just woke up and found the security was gone". He further described the security withdrawal as "a non-issue".
Earlier in the day, it emerged that the security detail of Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula had been withdrawn on Monday night.
"Withdrawal of my security and that of Raila is illegal, the law requires Presidential candidates have an all-round security protection," Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka stated.
Reports indicated that the officers were ordered back to General Service Unit (GSU) Headquarters where they were asked to surrender their police radios to ensure they do not monitor police communication.
Raila had called the press conference to discuss NASA's 'Irreducible Minimum' demands ahead of the fresh polls.
The former Prime Minister revealed that a number of KIEMS kits that were reported stolen days to the election were allegedly used to transmit fake results and that is why the GPS geo-location system of all the kits was switched off.
He declared: "IEBC is living in denial. The results of the election that came from their polling stations never came back to their servers at Bomas of Kenya."
