Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has responded to claims by the National Super Alliance (NASA) that he organized members of the outlawed Mungiki group to counter the peaceful protests the Opposition had planned to hold today.
Addressing the press Tuesday afternoon, Kuria noted that the Raila Odinga-led NASA team was planning to cause anarchy in the country, creating a Mungiki script then blame some leaders whom they would call to be charged at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
"NASA is planning to destabilise the country, create a situation ripe for chaos, blame some people and take people to ICC," he noted.
Kuria went ahead to claim that during the 2007/2008 post-election political turmoil, Odinga's team under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) created the insinuation that anything opposed to them is equal to Mungiki.
He noted that the Mungiki agenda, which saw several individuals end up at the Hague-based court, is what Mr Odinga is launching in the upcoming presidential elections.
"For avoidance of doubt, I am surprised that I was omnipresent in Kikuyu and Limuru, all I did was attend a rally in Limuru with members of parliament including Kesses MP Mishra," he stated.
"I have never been associated with Mungiki, those who are associated with it, it is their right, I have nothing against those in Mungiki that is not even a topic," he noted.
He accused the Opposition of spending too much time on the streets despite challenging the presidential results that nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta's win.
"The theatre of action cannot be in the streets, has to be in vote hunting, trying to associate Moses Kuria with Mungiki will not work for them,"Mr Kuria noted.
Regarding the NASA demonstrations, Mr Kuria stated: "It is their right; I do not see anything wrong with that, we cannot deny you what you are talented, it's your God-given talent, just don't interfere with our businesses, why would we deny you what you are talented in."
