Former Kenyan Member of Parliament Dies

The former Member of Parliament (MP) for Kasipul Kabondo Constituency has died.

Mr Oloo Otula aged 68 died on Monday night at Oasis Hospital in Kisumu at 11 pm.

His younger brother James confirmed the former lawmaker's death on Tuesday indicating that the former legislator was battling cancer.

He noted that he was rushed to the hospital at 8.30pm after he said he was unwell.

"He had taken supper as usual, but he suddenly felt ill. His wife and others rushed him to the hospital, where he later died," he stated.

Mr Otula was elected MP in 1997 under the National Development Party. He served until 2002 when he lost to the late Peter Owidi.

Homa Bay county Governor Cyprian Awiti, Deputy Governor Hamilton Orata and former Kasipul MP Oyugi Magwanga have sent their condolences to the family.
