The planned anti-IEBC demonstrations announced by the National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders have kicked off around the country.
In Kisumu County, chaos erupted after supporters of the opposition took to the streets to join in protests demanding changes in the electoral body.
Police engaged in running battles with the protestors and fired teargas to disperse the marauding crowd.
The supporters blocked various roads and also pelted police cars with stones forcing them to retreat to Kondele Police Station after running out of teargas.

In Nairobi, police lobbed teargas canisters at the demonstrators who were approaching the Central Business District before the demos could start.
Currently, there are police on standby and some of the streets have been cordoned off to make sure security in the city is maintained.
The demonstrations in Mombasa County were peaceful with NASA protesters gathering themselves and marching along the streets chanting anti-IEBC slogans.
The supporters marched along Nkurumah Road led by Deputy Governor William Kingi.
Former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale led the demonstrations in the town as the residents called for changes at the IEBC.
Other counties where the protests have been reported include Kisii, Nyamira, Narok, Migori, Kitui and Machakos.
