Governor Mike Sonko Issues New Warning to All Nairobi Residents

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Tuesday issued a new warning to all the city residents in regard to rogue Inspectorate officers who have been posing as heads of the various departments in the County Assembly Offices.

Through his twitter account, Sonko cautioned Nairobi residents to remain vigilant amid the impostors who have flooded the Nairobi City county headquarters.

Accompanying his tweet was a video of a man who was found in possession of four County Inspectorate IDs bearing his names and different titles such as Public Health Officer, Senior Engineer Urban Planning and Senior Safety Officer.

The man was also found with fake receipt books indicating various transactions he made showing that he had drained money from city residents.

The new announcement was met with various comments with netizens appreciating him for raising the alarm.

Last week, Mr Sonko issued a new directive suspending fees charged on all small-scale traders.

"Those that will operate for free are hawkers outside the city centre who used to pay Sh30 daily, transporters of red soil, manure and confectionery (Sh50) and those offloading goods per trip (Sh500)," he stated.

"The collection of the following fees and charges domiciled in your sector must be stopped forthwith until the county government comes up with a convenient and reliable method of charging the same,” part of the memo read.
