Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has advised IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati on how to conduct the fresh elections on October 26th.
Through his social media on Tuesday, the Jubilee Senator told Mr Chebukati to prepare for the polls ignoring changes in the Elections Laws Amendment Bill proposed by the Jubilee Party.
"IEBC should prepare as though there are no amendments to the Elections Act. Ours is merely to give meaning to what they are already doing.
"I want to assure IEBC that contrary to the perceptions out there, the Election Laws Amendment Bill will not affect their preparations," he stated.
On Thursday, Mr Murkomen tabled the controversial bill in the Senate while the public hearings by the Joint Select Committee on Election Laws at County Hall began today.
NASA leader Raila Odinga asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to withdraw the proposed amendments to election laws as a pre-condition for his participation in the repeat polls.
Speaking on Friday, the Opposition leader condemned the two proposed Bills – Elections Act (Amendment) Bill 2017 and Election Offences (Amendment) Bill 2017 – terming them as "retrogressive".
He further compared the move by the Jubilee party to changing the rules of the game at halftime.
"We don't want someone who changes the rules in the middle of the game. There is no need to change the goalposts when the Supreme Court has already implicated the IEBC," the NASA leader stated.
