NASA Leaders Vow to Hold Protests During President Uhuru Kenyatta's visit to Mombasa

National Super Alliance (NASA) has announced that its anti-IEBC protest in Mombasa will continue as scheduled despite being banned by the police during President Uhuru Kenyatta's visit to the region

The coalition Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Norman Magaya stated that come Monday they will storm the street because it is their constitutional right.

Magaya noted that the police reasoning to ban the rally was gibberish adding that they become part of the dictatorial government

"If they attempt to ban the demo, it will be illegal, police have no powers under the law to outlaw demonstrations, neither do they have powers to permit a demonstration. They only need notification to provide security.

"We will resist, reject and go ahead with our demonstrations," Magaya stated.

Mombasa Urban police Lucas Ogara had earlier announced that demonstrators should keep off streets or face brutal force.

"We will not allow. They will not do it here. Tomorrow we don't need any demonstration when we have the President here," Mr Ogara stated.

The Opposition has been conducting bi-weekly protests with an aim of ensuring that the Electoral Commission implements their 'irreducible minimums' ahead of the repeat presidential election.

Meanwhile, President Kenyatta on Sunday started a three-day tour of the coastal city where he has received a number of defectors.
