DP William Ruto's Hilarious Reaction to Raila Odinga's Announcement

Deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday reacted to the National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga's announcement that he had withdrawn from the repeat presidential race.

Through his twitter, the Deputy President expressed his excitement at the unexpected announcement that has stirred mixed reactions among Kenyans.

He thanked God for Mr Odinga's action indicating that it is a constitutional and democratic right for every Kenyan to participate in an election.

His message sparked various reactions from Kenyans on social media who had exciting replies to the tweet.

While addressing residents in Voi during a Tuesday campaign tour, Mr Ruto stated: "We are ready, even if the IEBC announces Uhuru Kenyatta as President since he is unopposed."

On his part, President Uhuru Kenyatta stated that he was undeterred after Odinga's exit from the race adding that the NASA candidate had exercised his democratic right.

Nonetheless, he indicated that the October 26 poll would continue as scheduled and as ordered by the Supreme Court.

The President also accused the former Prime Minister of wasting Kenyans money which had been used for preparing polls arguing that the funds could have been used for other constructive work.

Following the announcement, IEBC on its part convened a meeting with its legal team promising to communicate the way forward regarding the election plan.

Meanwhile, the High Court has cleared Presidential candidate Ekuru Aukot to participate in the repeat presidential election scheduled for October 26 following his quest to have his name included in the ballot paper.

High Court Judge John Mativo noted that it is clear that the election is not a runoff but a fresh election thus all participants in the August polls had a right to be included on the ballot paper.
