NASA Politician Charged For Faking His Kidnapping

A National Super Alliance (NASA) politician has been charged with faking his own kidnapping and giving false reports to the Police.

Kisumu West Member of County Assembly (MCA) Paul Okiri Odhiambo appeared before a Kisumu court on Tuesday for allegedly issuing a false report at Kamagambo Police Station in Migori County.

Mr Okiri told the police that he had been kidnapped at Kapuonja village in Kisumu West and dumped in Rongo Township.

Nonetheless, during the court proceedings, the ward representative denied all the charges before the court's magistrate.

A former County chief officer George Anyonga was the lead suspect in the kidnap case.

During the court hearing, Mr Anyonga narrated how he was attacked by a mob accusing him of being behind the MCA's disappearance.

"My worker told me that the MCA was missing and that mourners were shouting that I was the person behind his disappearance,” stated Mr Anyonga

He also revealed that his efforts to reach the ward representative, who happens to be his acquaintance, were fruitless.

"I was inside the house at the time, and I could hear residents accusing me of kidnapping the area MCA and vowing to burn down my house,”noted Anyonga.

He further pointed out that the youth eventually destroyed his perimeter wall prompting him to flee through the back door adding that "they destroyed the property of unknown value, including two cars."

Following this accusation, Kisumu County Assembly asked Mr Anyonga to step aside to pave the way for investigations.

The Ward representative, who is popularly known as 'Manager', has been at the forefront calling for accountability for the alleged misuse of Sh105 Million development fund.
