Residents of Kisii town on Tuesday staged demonstrations against acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i over what they termed as increased police brutality.
The protestors who chanted anti-Jubilee slogans demanded the sacking of the Education CS whom they accuse of frustrating the NASA team during its protests against the electoral body.
They were specifically angered by Monday's alleged attack on the Kisii County Woman representative Janet Ong'era's during the anti-IEBC demos.
The group claimed the police destroyed Ms Ongera's vehicle after firing teargas canisters at her convoy in order to frustrate the organised demonstrations.

Business was disrupted for the better part of the day as protesters and the police clashed at several instances.
The police retaliated to this action by dispersing traders using the teargas canisters.
An ODM supporter, Denis Mosoti, stated that they were demonstrating against the harassment of the protestors while expressing their constitutional rights.
“Matiangi should tell our police officers to respect our leaders, what they have been doing is a violation of basic human rights,” he stated.
He promised to mobilize all the residents not to participate in the repeat poll until reforms are made in the electoral body.

"Our protests are peaceful, and there is no need for security agents to use excessive force on us," he noted.
Several motorcycles were damaged during the incident with the riders being forced to ride out of town to evade arrest.
