Police Launch Manhunt for NASA Senator

Police in Kisumu county have launched a manhunt for a National Super Alliance (NASA) politician who is accused of allegedly disrupting IEBC trainings in the region.

Kisumu Senator Fred Outa is said to have led the rowdy youth who attacked venues in Kisumu and Vihiga counties where Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials were holding a training session ahead of the presidential election.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Kisumu County Police commander Titus Yoma confirmed the incident adding that if the Senator is found on the wrong side of the law, he will face charges.

"Nobody is above the law regardless of their status, if someone is on the wrong side of the law, he should be charged," he stated.

Nyanza regional coordinator Wilson Njega, on his part, noted that Mr Outa would be probed to find out whether he is directly involved in the incidents.

Mr Njega also indicated that more than ten people had been arrested regarding the recent disruption of IEBC trainings.

On Wednesday morning, a training session in Kisumu was disrupted after youth vandalized chairs and tents that had been set for the programme.

The rowdy group also roughed up a woman who had been contracted by IEBC to provide the tents and chairs.

A similar incident happened in Vihiga county where youth disrupted a training of officials citing failure by the independent body to make necessary reforms.

Training of electoral officials in Nyanza and Western region has been challenged following the heightened protests against the independent body.

Several recruits also failed to show up for the training sessions in the region indicating that unknown people have threatened their lives.
